My Writing Piece
The Look at Me Now project is where we the students had to answer some simple questions about ourselves such as who is our protagonist and antagonist in our lives, or name a certain flashback we have, etc. After that we would have to print out the response to the questions and wwe then were to glue it onto a board of some sort so we could display it. We were also given the option to put our work on something we have a passion for. So I put mine on a bodyboard since I enjoy doing that and I thought it would be creative to do something like that.
This project was not very challenging at all to me. I feel like we do something similar to this project every year so I once I did it, and kept repeating it over and over it basically became like muscle memory. But something that was a little more challenging than the others was trying to think of who my characters are in my life since I have many people I value in my life and they all lead to where I am to today.
I feel like the easiest part of this project was making the final product. Usually, the final product to the projects at High Tech is the hardest part and the most time consuming. But however for this project, it was the opposite. The final product was the least time consuming and took the least effort since I could just tape the papers onto the bottom of my body board. I also feel like it was the easiest part of the project since it didn’t take much brain power and was just overall something fun and easy to start off the year with.
If there was a scale from 1-10 1 being the most awkward, I think I would rate my confidence level at an 8 or 9 since during my presentation I was laughing too much, I didn’t know how some people would take it or if I was going to be the only one laughing thinking that it was funny. But other than that I feel like I delivered my presentation smoothly.
I received feedback on my final product from my peers such as Diego Diaz, Sydney Lorton, Dylan Lewis, Angeline Santa Romana, and more. I thought it was helpful to get this feedback because they let me know what my final product looked like from an audience perspective and what it needed to make it pop or more eye catching. They also read over my paragraphs and made sure it wasn’t repetitive, grammatically correct and that it made sense.
I feel like I did provide good feedback to my peers. I was attentive during the presentation and knew what to write down when Micah was talking about his paragraphs. I also observed the photos of it and found it to not really relate to many things on his project and later asked him why those photos on there to which he replied it was for comedic effect. And that he sees it as a part of his flashback. I also gave feedback to other peers who include Sydney, Diego Diaz, Dylan, and Angeline on their google document they typed on. I made sure that there weren’t any spelling errors and/or grammar/punctuation errors.
I know I was on task for the majority of the time we were given to make our product. I was talking, but I was also working at the same time which is the reason I got my writing portion done 2 days after it was given to us and was able to make it go onto something like a bodyboard. I also got the full product done 2 school days before the actual due date. I also did most of the construction in class like the cutting and laying out the cutouts on a styrofoam board so I could get an idea of what it would look like on my board.
For this project, I think I deserve a 4/4 since not only was I on task for the vast majority of the work time given for writing and construction, but because I was creative and put it on one of my hobbies and I was able to give multiple peers cool and warm feedback on their writing and final product of the project. I also feel like I deserve a 4/4 for this project since I confidently presented my final product, even though I laughed I still made sure it was delivered smoothly and clearly to my audience. When I was presenting, I made eye contact with the audience and spoke up so the back of the class was able to hear me.
If I could change something about this project, it would be to put a twist in it of some sort, I am not too sure what twist I would put in this project, but I would make it so that this is more challenging. Maybe instead of doing it for yourself, you would make one for your partner or your parent. This is because we seem to do something similar to this every year and it would be nice to change it up a bit and maybe do something unexpected. Another thing I would change about this project is that I would make the writing portion graded so that it is more challenging and more of an assignment rather than an arts and crafts.
