During the time I was in chemistry class we learned lots of things in a short amount of time meaning we had to take tons and tons of notes. This means we had to be very organized with our notes so we would know exactly where we are in our notebook.
I think this page shows my ability to organize my work pretty well since as you can see the worksheet pages are numerically listed. And I don’t overlap my work. I also show all my work and make sure it is legible. In the other pages, you can see the notes that I took from a presentation, and that there are subtitles symbolizing a new section in the presentation and something new within the whole scope of the topic.
I think I take notes quite well since I make sure to take down the important things and what I need to know in order to complete the assignment or for it to make sense to me. Another reason as to why I think I take notes quite well is because I have been doing it for some years now. Also, I made it my SLC goal to fix my problem of making my notes too long and winded which I easily did last year by making sure I only wrote down the important things. I eventually took these skills I acquired and carried it over to Chemistry this year which really helped me. The final reason to why I think I take notes well is because my notes are organized. I use a subtitle for each new section in a presentation and I make sure my notes flow and make sense. Not just to me, but I also try to make sure it would make sense to other people so I know my notes are the key points in a presentation or a lecture and so that I know they are organized. If I want to compare and add and help friends with notes or if they missed something I can easily do that.
I feel like I can be more organized by keeping track of the actual printed out worksheets. I usually tend to lose mine since I usually just fold them and put them in my notebook, rather than stapling or taping the worksheet to the page of my notebook. This means that sometimes they fall out of my notebook, or sometimes I just lose them while I’m flipping through my notebook rapidly. I can improve on being more organized in this area by making sure I staple things and making sure I am not lazy and just go over there and do it. Another thing I could do is write the questions down but that however seems very time consuming. Another way I feel like I could be more organized is by making sure I have everything in order from latest to most recent. I can easily fix this problem of fine by remembering to write the date on everything. I already write it on warm-ups which is helpful, but I feel like it would be more significant if I just wrote down the dates for everything rather than just the warm-ups. It would also make my notebook easier to navigate through.
I keep track of my assignments pretty well, however like I said I feel like I could do a better job of keeping track of them. All my work is there, I don’t lose those ever. But I do lose the worksheets and recently with the review packet, it has shown me how important it is to make sure I am keeping track of those, so I can refer back to them when I need the answer to something in the packet. It is also helpful to revisit look back and re-read the paper to refresh the definitions of some of the chemistry terms like Polar Covalent Bonds and Electronegativity.
