I learned that the reason Hitler got elected is because he was like candy to the people of Germany. For example picture a kid and he has only been eating vegetables for a decade, then suddenly he is allowed to have a piece of candy but it was disguised as something worse than a vegetable. That was Hitler. See, Germany had recently gotten out of a Great Depression but their economy still wavered. Hitler rose and said he would do something for the greater good of Germany. He claimed that he would turn each citizens life around for the greater good if he were to be elected chancellor. He was eventually sworn into office after chancellor Paul Von Hindenburg passed away, and there he showed his true colors and his proposition for Germany.
2 connections I see between my decade/location and the world today is; Hitler’s rule was a dictatorship. As of now there are dictators all around the world. For example Cuba is a dictatorship, as well as the infamous North Korea. The second connection I see between my decade/location and the world today is the segregation between the Jews and the Germans. This is very similar to countries nowadays with slaves. Countries such as India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, North Korea, Russia, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Indonesia. Have slaves and segregation much like Germany or more specifically Munich from 1930-1940. My favorite artifact my group presented happens to be the art piece. This is because we had messed it up, however it turns out that we messed up for the better and instead made something I was proud of to present.
I learned most about the economical aspect about Munich from 1930-1940. Before doing this project I always wondered why and how Hitler managed to get sworn or elected to be chancellor. He did this by taking advantage of the recent great depression. Hitler’s selling point was him saying that he was going to change Germany for the better. If I could change one thing about this project, it would be that probably the amount of time we had I feel like it was really rushed since we had MUN as well as this project. I wish we could have just focused on one thing and have done it our best. The book my group read was called Sons and Soldiers. This book describes the process of these nazi camp members and how they escaped, stowed away to America, then came back as soldiers to liberate their brothers and sisters. It also talks about the life of the prisoners before camp. This relates to our decade and location because like I said, it describes the characters life before camp (which was the 1930’s) and it also takes place in Munich. Our location is Munich in the 1930’s.
