The Intellectual Absolute Zero project is where we were put into a group of 3. The people in my group were Karley and Diego Diaz. During this project we had to collaborate and make sure that we were all on the same page and agreed with each other by compromising and thinking of ways we can make the products look as best as we could make them. Some areas I think I could grow as a group member would be finding a way to have better work ethic even when I don’t enjoy what I’m doing since I didn’t really enjoy the project it made my work ethic slack.
Somethings that I learned throughout this project in humanities would be about my regime, the 15th-16th century catholic church. Before this project, I thought that the Pope was all holy and was against war. But back then, the Pope was pro war, he was basically the army general. I also thought it was an open society, but it turns out that the Pope controlled the people inside the Vatican and kept everything hidden from them. The Pope only released documents that he wanted people to see, he kept them confined to the idea that he was doing them good. I used my thinking in Humanities by collaborating and having an open mindset and working hard. Since the computers were slow I had to find another way to get all my information, so we each connected to ou group members hot spot and got tons of information it would have taken us hours to get on the school wifi.
During the project in physics class, I learned about Phase Change which is the reversible, physical change that occurs when a substance changes from one state to another. We also learned about Temperature and Phase Change which is the temperature of a substance does not change during a phase change.
Somethings that I learned throughout this project in engineering would be about the Wankel Engine and how to construct a stirling engine and how it works. The wankel engine was first used in a race car on August 3, 1902 in Kahr, Germany. Like all engines the Wankel engine has advantages and disadvantages, some of it advantages would be its simplicity and its smoothness when it runs, its compactness along with its high revolutions per minute, and its low weight to high power rate. It also best when applied onto vehicles. Some of its disadvantages would be it rotor sealing, apex seal lifting, slow combustion, bad fuel economy and its high emission.
Exhibition was held in the school commons from 5:30-6:30. We presented our complete and polished zines, our final presentation to our audience and our stirling engines even though they didn’t end up working. I felt like I could have offered something better to our group and maybe instead of color printing one zine we could have color printed at least 5 of our zines so that it would be more appealing to the eye. In terms of work ethic, collaboration, oral communication, written communication and content knowledge, I would give myself an A+ since I did stay on task and my group split the work very evenly, we all took part in each of our final products. I happened to do more of the zine and the stirling engine than the presentation.
