World’s Fair Dp Update
The World’s Fair
My nation for this project was Italy. A few things I have learned about Italy is that there was a mass emigration, of about 4 million Italians, from Italy to the present day U.S. This was because of the grinding rural poverty in present day Southern Italy and Sicily. Another thing I have learned throughout this project about Italy is that they invented the radio telegraph as well as the ice cream cone meaning that they were innovative. I also learned that the colosseum was used for building parts in the 1800’s. I used to always think it was deteriorating from mother nature and age.
My group recreated a radio telegraph. We chose this item since it seemed to be the most interesting item with some background behind it. We also thought it would be cool to make something super old and see how far technology has come by comparing and contrasting it to the modern day radio. I personally am glad we chose to recreate that item. Not only did it turn out really good and we also got to work with circuits which was cool since no other group did that.
Like most groups our prototype was made out of cardboard. It was pretty much the foundation for our final product. I thought this process was helpful especially because we got to figure out how this would work and what materials we would need and have to use in order to make our final product.
I thought our booth was good. We had a poster that shouted Italy like everyone else. We had our products and everything displayed in an orderly fashion. I thought my overall participation at exhibition was good because sometimes some people from my group wouldn’t want to do much talking so I would step in and explain what everything is and why Italy is the best and why they should live and/or move to Italy.
I thought exhibition went well. There was a good amount of people there and it was actually very organized and everyone seemed to know what they were doing. I also thought that it was cool kids from the elementary and middle school attended and listened to us talk about our countries and how they were able to form their own opinions.
