How challenging was this project for you?
I feel like the project wasn’t to challenging at all since it was sort of like an arts and craft type of project where we would bring our shoebox and glue and/or tape things to the shoebox that the person we were honoring enjoyed doing, or enjoyed eating. But the illustrated journal was especially challenging because we had to illustrate and I am a very bad illustrator. But the writing part wasn’t hard at all, as a matter of fact I kind of enjoyed it.
What did I enjoy most about this project?
Something I enjoyed most about this project was getting the freedom to choose who we can make the altar for and what we could put on there. I enjoyed how there weren’t any limits on what we could use to decorate the box. I also enjoyed the illustrated journal and learning about the Aztecs and how they behaved as a society.
Did you receive critique and feedback from anyone (teacher, parent, classmate, etc)? If so, who? Was the feedback helpful? (This could be for any part of the project, illustrated journal, ofrenda, exhibition)
I received feedback from my peers such as Sydney, Diego, Dylan, Micah and more. I feel like this feedback was helpful since it made my project look better and make more sense. It also helped my project meet the requirements. I also got feedback and help from my peers on my illustrated journal since I am not very good at illustrations, I asked them how I could draw something like the drawings on the Aztec sheet and they told me I could draw it using symbols that are easy to draw. For example if I had to draw something about the command chain on the Aztec’s I could just draw a food triangle but instead of having food in there I could have the chain of command with symbols. The king could be a crown and the slaves would be handcuffs.
What grade do you think you deserve and why?
For the cultural connections project, I think I deserve an A because I stayed on task for the project, and for the illustrated journal, I split the work evenly with my partner and stayed on task for the whole project which is how I got it done so quickly. I also did everything to the best of my abilities, especially the illustration part. During the ofrenda portion of the project, I found myself to be on task during work time of the project. It was a fun one since it was sort of like arts and craft and it was straight forward. I also did my best in the project since I decorated my box and made it special for the founder of Converse Shoes.
If you could change something about this project, what would it be?
I would probably take out the ofrenda part of the project, although it was fun to do, I didn’t really learn much about Day of the Dead. And it honestly kind of seemed like a waste of time.
